JoAnn Blohowiak’s current work consists of two dimensional drawings made with acrylic and dry pigment on plywood. Defining characteristics include gesture, abstraction, and high contrasts in color.

The drawings here are meant to re-present the picture plane as a dissolving, disassembled or floating section of a physical architectural wall as well as a biological perceptual wall of visual expectations. The work may question the wall’s relationship to the condition of reality, thereby providing the viewer with an unconscious molecular power to resolve any and all perceived “problems” by the simple and autonomic act of seeing.
